The 2024 edition of RADECS conference will take place between 16th and 20th of September at the southernmost edge of the Gran Canaria Island, in Maspalomas.
Around half of the Gran Canaria Island is declared as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Due to the climatic, geographic, ecological diversity of its landscapes, the island is also known as a “Miniature Continent”. Furthermore, the island offers “Las Dunas de Maspalomas” Nature Reserve at the southernmost shore and the cliffs of the west coast. One of Gran Canaria’s most famous beach is “Playa del Inglés”, located in south Gran Canaria with its almost three kilometres of golden sand and calm waters. Besides this, the university Las Palmas de Gran Canaria hosts the “Banco Español de Algas”, which focuses on the conservation of microalgae and cyanobacteria. Its beautiful nature attracts almost 4 million tourists to visit the island every year. But it isn’t only nature, the Canary Islands with its mountains stand as a strategic place to observe the universe and its stars. Among many observatories at the Canaries, Gran Canaria hosts the Roque Saucillo and the Temisas Astronomical Observatories.
Enjoying very pleasant weather all year round, with a minimum 21°C (70°F) and maximum temperature of 27°C (81°F) during September. The weather can only be described as summery without heavy rains even though it’s heading towards autumn, making it possible to organise open-air events in September.
